Mei signature in Nakago tang: Mumei, i. No signature; however, NBTHK attested in the certificate that this sword was smithed by Amada SADAYOSHI who was a father of Amada AKITSUGU , Japan's human national treasure. Sadayoshi was very talented swordsmith and had many awards during his career. Sadayoshi was also famous for making sword for Isoroku YAMAMOTO who was a Japanese Marshal Admiral of the Imperial Japanese Navy and the commander-in-chief of the Combined Fleet during WWII. Sadayoshi died at 38 and had just less than 10 years of his career, and thus his swords are currently rarely found.Nakago tang: Ha-agari Kuri-jiri (Ubu original, not shortened). Habaki collar: Single piece gold foiled copper. Cutting edge length (per registration): 73.9 cm (29 1/8). Nakago tang length: 21.3 cm (8 3/8). Whole blade length: 95.2 cm (37 1/2). Kissaki point: 40.5 mm. Fitting: 107 cm (42 1/8). Tsuka handle: 27 cm (10 5/8). Bare blade: 876 g (1.93 lb). With fitting: 1,458 g (3.22 lb). The blade is finely polished and is in very good condition with some minor flaws and scratches, which are not fatal. Koshirae mountings are in very good condition with normal wears seen in items of this age.
